After falling behind 7-0, Junior quarterback Darrion Montgomery would score the 1st points of the season on a 3 yard run up the middle to tie the game 7 all.  The scoring drive was set up by two big completions to Senior Wide Receiver, Kevon Grant.  A 31 yard strike from Senior quarterback Jaheim Cherry and 30 yard fade from Montgomery.  

After the second rushing touchdown by the McNicholas Rockets, Cherry would lead the offense down to even up the school at 14.  The drive was aided by Jalen Neal’s 27 yard run to the left side of the Offensive Line.  The run move the ball into McNick territory.  Cherry would score on scramble through the middle of the Rockets defense.  McNick would answer to take 21-14 advantage at the close of the half.

Northwest defense would force a 3 and out on the Rockets opening possession.  Cherry would hit Sophomore Jamauree Thrasher on 56 yard TD pass to pull the game even at 21.  The Knight defense would step up again to force a punt, but the offense never gained possession as the punt muffed deep into the Knight side of the field.  The Rockets would score 4 plays later to take 28-21 lead.  The Knight had an opportunity to tie the game again after 4 down tackle made by Senior DL DiVonya on a fake punt attempt, but the drive ended in a punt.  

Midway through the 4th quarter the Knights offense gain possession after a 4th quarter sack by Senior DE Isaiah Benson.  The Northwest offensive series would end with a 3rd down fumble, which McNick converted to 3 points to take a 31-21 lead with 1:05 left in the game.  

Northwest start conference play on Friday September 4th at Knights Stadium vs Ross Rams at 7:00 pm.
