D'Asyia Cotton signs with Akron University

Northwest High School’s star athlete, D’Asyia Cotton, has officially committed to the University of Akron to pursue her academic and athletic career. The announcement comes on the heels of a stellar high school career in track and field, marked by impressive performances at both state and regional levels.

In June, Cotton showcased her skill and determination at the OHSAA State Meet, finishing 4th in the high jump with an impressive height of 5'5". This marks her second time placing at the state meet, having finished 5th in 2023. Earlier this year, D’Asyia reached a career milestone by winning the Winter 2024 Indoor High Jump State Championship, solidifying her status as one of Ohio’s top high jumpers.

Her dedication and consistent growth in the sport have caught the attention of collegiate programs, with the University of Akron emerging as her choice for the next chapter of her journey. The Zips are gaining a driven and talented athlete who is ready to make an impact at the collegiate level.
