The Northwest boys basketball team used a strong second quarter and balanced scoring effort to earn a 60–38 victory over CHCA on Saturday.
After a tight opening quarter, Northwest seized control by outscoring CHCA 23–11 in the second period. The Knights carried that momentum into halftime and continued to extend the lead behind disciplined defense and efficient offensive execution.
Travontay Thomas led all scorers with 14 points off the bench, shooting 7-for-12 from the field to provide a spark on the offensive end. Ethan Dixon added 12 points on an efficient 6-for-9 shooting night, while Eli Sterling chipped in nine points and Isaiah Stroud added nine points along with five assists and five steals.
Northwest’s defense played a key role throughout the contest, holding CHCA to just five points in the third quarter and forcing turnovers that led to transition opportunities. The Knights finished with 13 steals and controlled the boards with a 34–30 rebounding advantage.
Christian Craig contributed eight points and eight rebounds, while Jadyn Hairston added nine rebounds and two blocks as Northwest limited CHCA’s scoring opportunities in the paint.
Northwest shot 41.8 percent from the field and outscored CHCA in each of the final three quarters to secure the home win.
The Knights will look to build on Saturday’s performance as they prepare for their next matchup on Tuesday, February 3rd, at Western Brown.
